Fancy a girls weekend in Auckland with me?

More Big News! Flushed with the success of my Hawkes Bay long weekend in February, I've been plotting another one – this time in Auckland. The city of sails is my home town and where I was brought up. I remember the days when there was only one kind of chicken – it was organic, wandering around the backyard and your father chopped its head off when it came time for dinner. There was no such thing as fast food and and you found the left over roast dinner from Sunday in your school sandwiches on Monday.

Auckland city is still beautiful, still rocks and has an outstanding lifestyle which is why we can't help it if we're fabulous. Everywhere you look there's a beach, we grow the best onions and we have farmer's markets falling out of the trees. Gastronomically speaking, the thing I like the most is the cultural diversity – modern NZ, Asian, Lebanese, South American, French, Italian, Spanish, Indian... you name it!

This fabulous long weekend is packed with everything I love doing in Auckland so it's very personal. I'll take you to where I shop for clothes, kitchen equipment, vegetables and gin. We'll eat in the restaurants my foodie friends and I eat in, stroll around my favourite art gallery, taste Auckland wines with the help of experts. I'll teach a hands-on cooking class, we visit the oldest food market in NZ and our gelato workshop (with the one and only Giapo), will teach us the beauty and art of making unforgettable gelato.

I haven't even mentioned our funky Grey Lynn accommodation at The Convent Boutique Hotel yet – all recovered Catholics breathe deeply and relax. The Convent happens to house one of the best restaurants in Auckland – Ada... just saying. Get in touch to find out more or reserve your place.
