Auckland / tAmaki makaurau

Spend a luxurious long weekend with Peta in her home town visiting her favourite places – live it up shopping, cooking, eating and drinking like a local.

Auckland is my home and the place I grew up so I know it like the back of my hand. Our seaside city has one of the most beautiful harbours in the world bursting with superyachts, curbside cafés and bars. It's a foodie paradise full of life-loving inhabitants and a seemingly unlimited number of very good restaurants reflecting our enormous cultural diversity.

This long weekend is a personal sharing of my life in Auckland - what I love, my foodie friends, the markets I shop at, where I get loose on Friday night, where I buy my clothes and where I teach my cooking classes. Get ready for Ponsonby Rd and Karangahape Rd crawls, a private tour of the Auckland Art Gallery, tasting local wines, tasting tour of the oldest food market in NZ, ice-cream workshop and strolling along the gorgeous waterfront.

We will be staying at the new and very funky The Convent Hotel right in the heart of groovy Grey Lynn. Please come with half empty suitcases as you’ll be wanting to shop.

For this tour you must be fit and healthy with no mobility issues. There is a lot of walking involved.

About our tours

My mission has always been to provide really authentic gastronomic and cultural experiences, far from the well-trodden tourist circuits and into the homes, restaurants and kitchens of people with real food soul.

We sample everything, from the chic to the humble because... variety is the spice of life!  As usual the most difficult task has been to choose between all those delicious recipes... those tempting wines... those magical interiors... those overflowing markets... Someone's got to do it - why not you?  I hope you can join us.

Such a fabulous weekend in Auckland with a wonderful group. Once again thank you dear Peta for hosting and entertaining us & sharing your knowledge & friendship. Memories to treasure.

Would love to do this all over again. Peta – you are one of a kind. It has been a pleasure to know and love who and what you are – very special.
— Eileen, Palmerston North
I loved zooming around the market with you all, provoking, delighting & sharing food stories. The 50s swing music in the bus, our Huami lunch tastes & theatre, gins & tattoo talk but most of all the warmth & humour of us all humming along together. Thank you Peta.
